The Ningde Nuclear Power Plant in Fujian Province is located in Beiwan Village, Tailaoshan Town, Fuding City, under the jurisdiction of Ningde City. It is China's first island type nuclear power plant and the first nuclear power project in the West Coast Economic Zone of the Taiwan Strait. The total planned capacity of the project is 6 million kilowatt level nuclear power units, planned in one phase and constructed in stages, with four units built in the first phase. The project started construction on February 18, 2008. At present, Units 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Ningde Nuclear Power Phase I project have been put into commercial operation. The preliminary work of Ningde Phase II project is underway.
